More Australian madness, driven by racism and intolerance perhaps?
The Chinese don't have a monopoly on greed. GFC anyone?!

My friend Steve is an atheist. He has a bumper sticker that reads "Honk
if you love Jesus". When someone honks, he gives them the finger.

Yes, the Chinese are greedy.

But so are the Irish.

An Irish Airline CEO, Michael O'Leary, wants to remove as many toilets
as possible & charge his passengers 50 cents to the remaining toilet
(s) on his Ryanair flights within 2 years, for f.ck's sake!:

The UK paper the SUN is never a reliable resource  :)

However gives a new slant on the term Bog Irish

One thing I like about the paddyś is when they tell you to go and get

There are just so many issues with this it isn't funny...

Buses and trains aren't susceptible to clear air turbulence - what happens
when passengers have to be strapped in?

What about if the pax. need oxygen - do standing passengers miss out?

What about emergency exits?... If a plane is certified to carry x passengers
in an all economy config. then carrying more endangers all the passengers
and crew (not just those standing)...

I'm sure others will think of more....

As another poster said - just greed (and yes, in this case Chinese greed)...

Regards,
BB.

They seemed to be talking about a bar-stool style arrangement, with straps.

> What about if the pax. need oxygen - do standing passengers miss out?

One would assume that the oxygen systems are augmented appropriately.

Bear in mind that the Chinese are generally smaller that Caucasians. It
should be possible to a given number of Chinese out faster than a
similar number of Caucasians. Of course, theory is one thing, and
practice another. Experiments would have to be done.

Think of the advantages. How could anyone hijack an aircraft if
passengers are packed in like sardines? "Tell the pilot to divert to
Cuba - pass it on."

But it sounds like a rather strange publicity stunt to me.

They are? I'm sure the northern Chinese will be surprised to learn that.

About half (provided you draw the line in the right place).

Didn't Bob Newhart suggest this back in the 60's, I think it was "The
Grace L. Ferguson Airline"(and storm door company)"

So, what do they do about turbulence or say, uncommanded pitch down attitudes?

Or, on takeoff, the accelleration, or on landing the braking? do they tie the
pax's wrists to the hand straps...
