Useless TIGER AIRWAYS "Australia"....

Be aware of the following SCAM-like details of Tiger Airways
"Australia" bookings:

* They have changed their charges.  You will now be charged $5 PER
PERSON PER FLIGHT, if you use a Credit Card.  An Australian-issed VISA
or Australian-issued MASTERCARD ***DEBIT CARD ONLY*** is free.  Their
systems can detect which kind of card you use by the card number.  It
will reject your booking, if you use the wrong card type.

So, $10 for a return flight for using a credit card to make a booking,
per person MINIMUM.

* Their call centre is STILL in the Phillipines.  Tiger's CEO promised
Melbourne-based staff here in Australia, in June 2009.  This is a
lie.  Their "Customer Service" number:

(03) 9335 3033

is always diverted to the Phillipines.

Yer??

And where is the scam? QANTAS and Virgin both charge extra for credit
card bookings.

Sorry, SCAM was the wrong word.

I meant RIP-OFF.

Unlike Tiger, Qantas allows you to pay by Direct Debit for FREE.

And Virgin is just as bad in the rip-off stakes as Tiger, now that you
mention it.

I'd say Tiger were in violation of s53C of the Trade Practices Act as
well. In my view, the law requires that the price quoted on the flight
selection page be the amount you have to pay if you choose the lowest
cost payment option *consistent with booking online*, but there appear
to be various booking fees which are not included at this point, and
which are unavoidable.

Well my wife and I just took a lovely 5 day vacation to Alice Springs
( from Melbourne) for $160 each return curtesy of Tiger.   If thats a
rip off, I am going back for more.

Yeah, we flew Alice to Melbourne for $59 and other than luggage allowance
and checkin time was no different to Jetstar. The flight was absolutely
fine, on time with a brand new, clean A320 aircraft and plenty of food and
grog on board. Better than VB meals wise, which half the time out of Hobart
there is nothing left on board as they do not take on catering here.
