How good is the MEL Airport Live Radar?

Our daughter has left for the US, flying on UA840.

According to the flight radar the flight has departed. But it said this at 1100
when departure time was supposed to be 1120. (UAL Website says that it departed
at 1110).

It's now 1154 but the image indicates that it's still around Melbourne
somewhere.

It will fly to SYD, then depart for LAX after that.

I don't know where they source their data but normally ATC info released
for public consumption is delayed by 10 or 15 mins.

After her flight landed at SYD the radar was still showing the dot as being at
MEL, even though its status was "departed".

However, after it departed SYD I looked it up again. It showed the flight around
the same latitude as the northern tip of the Gulf and longitude around the
eastern most part of NZ.

When we checked an hour later it wasn't being displayed.
