Jetstream on pay TV31 Oct 2009 03:53 GMT3
Flicking through the Austar box the other night I found a show, "Jetstream",
about Canadian Airforce F18 trainees. An Australian RAAF Flt Lt is one of the
instructors.
Excellent show, some great video from both cockpit and external to the aircraft.
Russian Illuyshin fire fighting aircraft rejected?31 Oct 2009 01:38 GMT17
On the news tonight and in the press, the government and fire fighting
authorities had rejected the offer of some Illuyshin aircraft to help combat the
fires, deeming them unsuitable for our conditions.
I'm no expert in these matters but there should be some here with a bit of

Which airlines that flew to Broken Hill airport28 Oct 2009 15:17 GMT5
Currently, REX is the only airline that flies to Broken Hill Airport.
Previously, Kendell used to fly to that airport. But what other airlines
flew to that airport during the 80s and 90s up to the collapse of Ansett?
(and Kendell as an Ansett Subsidiary)
Plane has landed but unable to deplane due to storm, anyone know why this would happen?28 Oct 2009 02:54 GMT8
I have a family member who flew PER-BNE and reported that the plane landed
but they weren't able to get off due to a big storm. Why would this happen?
Being PER-BNE, logic says its going to pull up to an aerobridge so why
wouldn't they be able to deplane?
Why no ATSB report for this one?26 Oct 2009 22:54 GMT3
Recently returned from a week on Hamilton Island and am surprised that
there has been no media report or ATSB report on a Jetstar A320 engine
failure on take off on the 15th October (2pm flight to Sydney).  I was
at the HTI airport (watching the 1pm to 2pm arrivals/departures) when

Urban Myth or more US "rah rah, we're the toughest"...21 Oct 2009 10:13 GMT5
Below is the text of an email (it had a photo of an F18 fully loaded for bear
(or MiGs)).
Is it yet another one of those urban myths, sort of like the Qantas defect
report joke which had B744s equiped with anti-missile technology?

How do I find an aircraft accident report ?20 Oct 2009 02:47 GMT14
On 27th Dec 2005 A Cessna 182 suffered engine failure after dropping
skydivers off at 10,000 ft above Torquay in Vic and ended up ditching
in the sea. The 19 yo pilot escaped uninjured and the aircraft was
extracted from the water.    It was reported in the newspapers as a

Notams available without passwords17 Oct 2009 23:41 GMT11
Notams available without passwords via  https://www.notams.jcs.mil/ and type
in the airport code into the top left large box called NOTAM Retrieval eg
YBCG = Gold Coast or YSSY = Sydney International etc etc etc
Maybe air crew already know this but would be useful for those of us ...
