Most Visible Color for Aircraft08 Mar 2004 00:11 GMT30
Howdy,
I've been looking all over, and I can't seem to find any discussions on the
relative visibility of various colors for aircraft.  I would guess that the
best color  might be different when viewed against the sky or the ground.
Crash site of missing plane found (North Las Vegas to San Diego)07 Mar 2004 23:55 GMT22
An unfortunate end to a plane gone missing:

Interesting that they used radar signals to find the crash site.
I thought they would always do that.
Trainee Pilot07 Mar 2004 23:44 GMT4
I currently live in the UK and I was wondering
what would be the best way of becoming a
commercial pilot. I do not have alot of money
and I am about to study for a degree in accounting
Setting QNH07 Mar 2004 23:42 GMT2
Back to the thread on pilots setting QNH for local acro work.
I was in the trusty Pawnee this weekend and checked the altimeter, I can
only select settings from 28.10 to 31.50, so.. following the others advice
of setting QNH. I could not.
CAVU and I'm Grounded!07 Mar 2004 23:37 GMT32
ARRRRGHH!
Just took possession of a '67 172 on Monday. Aside from work obligations and
IFR weather in the DFW area the past week, I was really really really
looking forward to this morning (Sat) to take my first flight alone in the

Lightspeed Hedsets 20G Vs 30G07 Mar 2004 22:53 GMT5
It's time to get a new headset and I've heard many good things about the
Lightspeed units.  Has anyone anything to offer as to the real world
difference between the 20Gs and the 30Gs?  Is the 4 DB diff in ANR really
worth the 120.00 price increase?  Looking at the specs I can see ...

Thanks  to all the bozos in the current "Martha Stewart" thread.  I finally
pulled the plug on three more, thus making my reading load much lighter. :-)

Randolph Wing Walk Compound07 Mar 2004 21:44 GMT7
Alright, I need your comments on Randolph Wing Walk Compound.  I am going to do
a few things to clean up my Arrow.  One of the more noticeable things is the
wing walk.  I have bought some Wing Walk Compound, and weather permitting will
probably put it on this weekend.

John Kerry: No ATC Privatization on His Watch07 Mar 2004 21:03 GMT9
While this AVflash blurb points the way for airmen at the ballot box,
I find it interesting that Kerry has overlooked the fact that it was
Clinton/Gore who initiated the notion ATC privatization.

Getting a little sick of it all07 Mar 2004 20:12 GMT103
I am getting sick and tired of rude, arrogant, sellers funny thing I just
had a guy refuse to let my mechanic do a pre buy said he could not trust my
mechanic to give an honest opinion and that if I cannot decide for my self
if I wanted it or not then I don't need an airplane and ...

Mogas:  what happens to EGTs?07 Mar 2004 18:43 GMT3
This was a little fun quiz that was circulated on a type specific
email list a few days ago.  It was authored by George Braly of
Advanced Pilot Seminars, and principle of GAMI.  If you're familiar
with George, you know he backs everything up with HARD DATA obtained
Running an 0-235 well beyond TBO07 Mar 2004 18:38 GMT3
How common is this?  I am seeing some 152s for sale with engines as high
as 3000 hours SMOH.  Surprising.  (Well, to me!)
Related question (probably nearly impossible to answer): to what degree
is an engine's reliability related to it's time SMO?  Obviously, it has
