Who's At Fault in UAV/Part91 MAC?30 Apr 2004 23:28 GMT72
How does the military's use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle intend to
comply with the Part 91 See-And-Avoid mandate?  Will there be new
Restricted Areas imposed along the border, or will the UAVs be flown
in Positive Control Airspace?
Pilot Courses30 Apr 2004 21:11 GMT1
I'm starting my private pilot training next month (for my own
statisfaction, I'm 44 and have a good career going, I'm not interested
in flying as a profession). I'll be going at it part time and wondered
what other things I can use to get the most out of my instrutor time.
Bush still a pilot?30 Apr 2004 21:04 GMT44
I was reading a "debate" in another NG about the ANG "yanking" President
Bush's pilots certification.
1) Does the military issue and have control over military certifications,
just as the FAA does civillians? I would assume so, but not sure... Also, if
Diamond DA-4030 Apr 2004 20:57 GMT17
Hi, all,
Does anyone have any experience with the Daimond DA-40-180? We saw one
at Sun 'n Fun and we're thinking of buying it.
TIA, Chuck
How common are multiple point failures?30 Apr 2004 20:38 GMT9
My friend just bought an airplane.  He did the prepurchase inspection
himself.  That's not as bad as it sounds - he is an A&P/IA and has
owned and restored many airplanes.  The plane was an older model light
twin and he got a great deal on it.

ideas for fun contests at fly-ins30 Apr 2004 10:58 GMT9
I'm organizing a fly-in coming up in a few months and would like to have
some fun activities or contests.   So far we're thinking about a spot
landing contest for arrivals and a precision flour bombing contest during
departures.  Pilots can win prizes like a GPS or new headset or ...
In-Flight Engine Failure30 Apr 2004 08:40 GMT61
Well, it happended.  I have owned the plane (Piper Turbo Arrow III) for
3 months and the engine failed during climb out on Tuesday.  Altitude
was 4400 feet.  Luckily, the engine did not entirely quit and I made it
to an airport within 10 miles.  TBO was 1000 hours away.  ...
Don't sell your loran30 Apr 2004 07:00 GMT27
At the controller's "Communicating for Safety" conference, one-time FAA
Administrator Langhorn Bond told me that loran is coming back as a backup to
GPS. He obviously sits on a lot of committees, work groups, etc
internationally, and has a lot of good info. He pointed out that on ...

MEI before CFII?30 Apr 2004 03:44 GMT3
Any advantages / disadvantages to getting my MEI before my CFII?
I would like to start building some multi time, and figure getting my
MEI in the process is my best bang for the buck.
Portable oxygen system test/overhaul30 Apr 2004 03:02 GMT2
Where can I get an old Scott Executive Mark III oxygen system hydro
tested and serviced?  I have one I'd like to buy cannulas for and fill
but I don't know anything about its history.
Portland, OR area would be best...  If I have to ship that brick I might
