Ping, Jay Honeck08 Jun 2004 15:21 GMT8
Jay,
I was telling my wife of your Inn and she reminded me of the time we were at
Dodgeville, Wisconsin. There is one requirement to stop at the Alexis.....
a flat runway ;-)
Why are there no small turboprops?08 Jun 2004 14:57 GMT59
I have always wondered why there are no small GA turboprops. It seems like
most of the major problems & maintenance issues associated with GA aircraft
are related to the piston motor, and as far as I can tell, turboprops are
much more reliable, fuel efficient, smoother running and ...

No altitude nor air speed indicator, hmmmmm08 Jun 2004 07:10 GMT12
Since yesterday I'm a bit more confident about my piloting.
The two of us had planned a trip to an island on our north coast for
lunch.
Really looking forward to this because we had some bad weather for the
Anyone got an FCC radio license08 Jun 2004 06:42 GMT33
Has anyone here bothered to get the FCC radio license? I've been going
down to Mexico for awhile and have never heard of anyone down there
ever being asked for one (the officials in Mexico don't even know what
it is).
Allaire??08 Jun 2004 03:37 GMT2
Anyone based at BLM (Allaire in New Jersey)? I'm currently at Old Bridge and debating
moving. I would like info on FBOs, tiedown prices, restrictions, etc..
Thanks,
George Patterson
First non-pilot passenger08 Jun 2004 03:21 GMT28
Took up my first non-pilot passenger today. I've had my private
certificate for almost 3 years now, but never had anyone else in the
aircraft that wasn't a pilot/instructor, etc. My wife will not fly with me,
but I'm still hopeful that that day will be sooner rather than later. ...
A 2004 AOPA Fly-In PIREP07 Jun 2004 19:18 GMT3
What follows is my PIREP of the AOPA Fly-In, held in Frederick, Maryland
(US) this past Saturday, June 6, '04.
For the second year in a row, which just happened to coincide with both
of my appearances there, the weather for the Fly-In was absolutely
lycoming major overhaul07 Jun 2004 17:57 GMT16
Anyone here have cost information to do a major overhaul on a 110 hp engine
(C150). I'm in south Florida and am considering buying a plane with high
time engine.
Thanks
Amazing fact #13707 Jun 2004 12:34 GMT27
In 1975 a Bedfordshire family were stunned when a huge chunk of ice
dropped out of the sky and crashed through the roof of thier house. At
the time they were watching a film on TV about the Titanic.

SF Bay Area pilots - new TFR06 Jun 2004 23:06 GMT2
The FAA has issued this TFR due to the levee break near Stockton and the
Manteca (ECA) VOR.  This is a popular VFR and IFR practice area.

pilots that lost medicals are you on the LSA group?06 Jun 2004 20:27 GMT14
Just a note for any of the thousands of pilots out there that can't fly
because they don't have a medical. If you are one or know someone then have
them join the Sport-Aircraft group.
Have a good day and stay out of the trees!
warrior stall speeds (VSO)06 Jun 2004 17:24 GMT7
Some references list the VSO (40° flaps) for a PA28-161 at 44Kt, others list
it at 33Kt.That's a pretty big difference. The POH for the one I'm flying says
33Kt. I have a hard time trusting this  -  Anyone here regularly land their
Warrior at 40 KT (1.2VSO)?
Another WW-II Secret!!06 Jun 2004 11:43 GMT2
As time passes, and the overlapping leaves of history get peeled back one at
a time, we continue to learn new and amazing things about the past.
Went to refill my coffee cup a while ago, and browsed the TV for a few
minutes on the way through the house.  D-Day anniversary coverage ...
