Garmin taking a page from you-know-who?31 Jul 2004 04:07 GMT13
Garmin sent out a letter to their dealers saying that when they upgrade the
430/530 boxes with WAAS that the new operating system will be incompatible
with WSI, a weather package introduced at Oshkosh.
This is a little different than what Tim Casey told AVweb. He merely claimed

Paint Job?31 Jul 2004 00:20 GMT14
Anyone have any input on the cost of a paint job for a Cherokee 140,
or where is a good place to go for one?  I'd say anywhere from North
Carolina to Maine, or as far west as Ohio would be the area the owner
could travel.  He is based in NJ.
Bendix S200 Mag work... difficult?31 Jul 2004 00:17 GMT9
Hey all... my Cherokee 180 is down for annual, and the A&P/IA found an AD on
the coil on one of the mags.  They're both S4LN (one -200, one -204), so they don't
have the impulse coupling AD, but the -200 has one on the coil.  They've both got only
300 hours on them since ...

Okay, this question is just about curiosity and the remote possibility
of an interesting DIY project. I'm an EE, so have the background do

Aborted sel flights30 Jul 2004 17:12 GMT31
How many times have you aborted your sel flight for equipment reasons. How many
times before engine start, before take off?
(In 3000 hours) I was on the takeoff roll and aborted: once because the
airspeed wouldn't come off the peg, another because the fuel pressure (Mooney,

A Mooney is cheaper than SWA29 Jul 2004 19:32 GMT16
I just ran some quick numbers the other night. If I consider all the
trips I've taken in the last couple of years the Mooney is clearly
less expensive than the fares I grabbed off iflyswa.com and yahoo.com.
Of course, the math is a bit hard since SWA doesn't fly into remote
