Which group is better at GPS knowledge? 30 Nov 2004 19:40 GMT5
Sorry about the cross pointing, but I need the insight of all of you.
With respect to Aviation GPS, do the general GPS NGs have any insight or am
I better off dealing with the Aviation NGs?

Use of Carb Heat30 Nov 2004 19:26 GMT4
I'm starting to get geared up for my written test, and was finally reading
[thoroughly] the chapter on systems last night. I was reading about carb
heat and how it works and was surprised to learn that the temperature in the
venturi section could be as much as 50 degrees below the ...
logic of IO-360 100hr injector inspection 93-02-0530 Nov 2004 16:13 GMT2
Once again, its time for the 100 hr AD sign offs for my Mooney. I
still cannot come close to understanding the logic behind the injector
line AD on lycomings. My understanding is that some A&P at some point
accidently bent some of the lines and didn't understand that it would
AC to DC Converter for APU30 Nov 2004 15:41 GMT8
This is for all the RV'ers and/or pilot/campers in the group.  I'm wondering
if anybody has ever made an "APU" out of an RV type AC to DC power
converter.
I was wondering if something like the RV converters that take 120AC and

Anyone know why Dr. Maharaj posts more than anyone else on this and most of
the other boards?

If you like extreme racing you guys have got to go to this site and
have a look!  It is for an air race.  It feels like you are flying
right along side, and you can switch to a bunch of different cameras
and different pilots.  Check it out and let me know what you think.
AI pitch bounce29 Nov 2004 23:43 GMT3
I just noticed today a tendency for my vacuum AI  to vibrate a few
millimeters in its pitch axis occasionally, then the movement damps out.
The roll and pitch indication seem to be OK, and the vacuum DG is working
fine.  The vacuum guage is at 5.0, right where it belongs.  I'm ...
What's happened to www.avweb.com ?29 Nov 2004 23:11 GMT2
I haven't visited the site for some time, and now
it seems to be down.
Could anyone tell me if it is just temporary or what ?
And are John Deakin's Pelican`s Perch articles available at
Flying into Beverley (BVY)29 Nov 2004 22:46 GMT7
I've asked this before, but - to date - every attempt I've made to reach
Beverly has failed.  So here I go again...
First of all, there's the NOTAM about "anti-theft device".  What's
necessary?  I don't have a prop-lock, or anything of that sort.  The doors
Adding IFR Plane Certification To Planes Without It29 Nov 2004 18:37 GMT11
What does the FAA say about adding IFR certification to planes which do not
have it?  Can IFR be added to any plane, or does it have to have some sort
of "pre-cerfication" by the manufacturer for make and model?  This question
came up, because I have seen IFR added to a few ...
Prop to High RPM on downwind29 Nov 2004 17:13 GMT70
I've been taught to set the prop to high RPM on final, but I don't like this
very much because then, when I run my checklist for the first time on downwind,
I have to leave one item "open."
So what's wrong with doing it on downwind?  (This in a Cherokee 6 or and Arrow)

Garmin 296.  Should I retire my 295?29 Nov 2004 12:39 GMT14
The new Garmin 296 has been out for about a year now and the fanfare
seems to have subsided.  There are seldom any new posts about it.
I was looking to trade in or replace my 295.  I have one of the first
ones in my Bonanza and it is a great tool, I'd hate to be without it.
If true, this makes me really angry (Buzzing Pilot kills 9 year-old son)29 Nov 2004 05:02 GMT2

Assuming that he was buzzing, to kill a 9 year-old kid for thrills makes me
really really really angry.
