Has anyone here bitten on the SPoT tracker, which is amazing cheap at
$150 (plus $100/year for basic service)?
I had every intention of buying a Personal Locator Beacon when they
first came out, but the thousand dollars caused me to keep putting it

Back when I was working for the airlines, we used a burn salve called KIP (Kip
Inc, North Hollywood CA) in both the airborne medicine chest and the hangar
toolboxes.  It was distributed by an outfit called Swift Laboratories (also in
NH CA).

This was in the "Multimedia" section of AdventurePilot.com.They
promised weekly updates back in 2006, but there were none.  Can
someone identify this plane?

Since I'm now convinced I can fly the Zodiac given sufficient time and
practice, I can now make a decision as to which aircraft I want to purchase.

I read the the complex endorsement involves being instructed in
retractable gear, flaps and constant speed prop.  I'm learning to fly
in a C172, which has flaps, so it seems unusual to me that flaps are
specified in the complex rating given that I have been using them

After years away from it, I'm in a position where I can think about getting
an airplane. I want to be able to travel with it, not just fly around the
patch. I'm a PP-ASEL with about 170 hours in 172/Warrior/Tiger-class
aircraft. I'd love to build, but my work has me away from home ...

In the book "Takeoffs and Landings" by Leighton Collins--who is referenced
in "Stick and Rudder"--there is no mention of the term
"ground effect."
Rather, Collins talks briefly about "ground cushion" and how air "piles up"

Has anyone been able to get the FAA web site to issue you a temporary
certificate with the new required ICOA wording of "English Proficient"
on it? I asked for a verification of priv as well as a temporary
