Is it normal practice for a Mode S transponder to display the aircraft
tail number to ATC?
I ask because I thought it did, but recently on flight following the
controller seemed to have difficulty getting my number correct over

Preflighting an airplane Part 1

I am an IFR student and a current subscriber of Jeppesen Airway
manual express service (East). Every 28 days I get a revision from
Jeppesen which includes revisions for the approach plates.
My initial packet had enroute charts and I have received update for an

ATC:  airplane 67Z, "traffic westbound at your 2 o'clock, 5000 feet"
Now, if I see the traffic, it's "airplane 67Z has the traffic"
What if I don't have it visually, but it shows up on my traffic
display?  I've heard stuff like "yep, got 'im on the fishfinder" but

Would you ever be directed into the traffic pattern while approaching an
airport for landing IFR?  That is, would you be told to make right/left
downwind or right/left traffic for landing?  If so, what's the procedure?
