There seems to be some debate around this one. Has the FAA ever made a
ruling on whether one needs to fly the six holding patterns (within
the previous 6 months) as well as the 6 instrument approaches?

airport and tower tells you to contact departure, I know that you
check in with callsign, altitude through, and cleared altitude.
