G1000 Instrument Checkride28 Feb 2006 06:00 GMT1
I'm nearing the end of my training using a C172 with the new glass.  Anyone
done a checkride using a G1000 ?  This will be the first for both my
instructor and I our local DE.  It does take some time to get comfortable
with all of its features.  Sometimes I think taking the test ...
Flat Spin Question28 Feb 2006 05:10 GMT33
Hi Lads, Got a Question on Flat spin, Everybody keeps telling me that a
flat spin is the most dangerious spin to enter, as your chances of
getting out of it are pretty slim, if you not a pro !
Is this because after maybe 3-4 rotations the amout of inercia built
Instruement checkride...for real this time (long)28 Feb 2006 04:31 GMT31
The short answer: I passed :-)
The long version:
After last weekend's check ride was postponed with the examiner coming
down sick at the last minute, I had an extra week to fly and study.  It

I have an ASA logbook that I have been using since I started as a student.
Not sure how many flights are logged, but I want to move away from it
because it doesnt have columns for Solo time and for Night landings.  I
ordered the Sportys professional log book today.  It appears to ...
Posting idea??26 Feb 2006 07:12 GMT15
With all of these nonsense posts/threads ...I have an idea:
If someone (or many of us at one time) would reply to these threads, but
remove rec.aviation - would the thread then follow that post - with rec
aviation removed? Throw the hounds off our scent so to speak. Could it work?

Lost logbook found :)26 Feb 2006 02:20 GMT10
What a miserable feeling.  After 3 years of lessons, many thousands of
dollare, 75 hours accumulated, almost ready to finish x countries and
exams, and I lose my darn logbook.
All that effort, time, and money down the drain.  It was enough to make
Early in flight lessons question26 Feb 2006 02:18 GMT35
I just started. I know, yippee for me. I had a couple of intro flights
before I started lessons. I am one of those almost 40 year old guys that
decided to finally get off my rump and do something I wanted to do since I
was in my early 20's. I did a few intro flights over the past ...
Not trying to 'dig-up' the Bernoulli versus Newton debate :0)26 Feb 2006 00:59 GMT96
Typically any talk with a new pilot on aerodynamics begins with a discussion
of Bernoulli.
We know the story; at the narrow point of the venturi is where the air
speeds up and pressure is the lowest.  Then we show how the upper part of
Q on surgery/Medical Status25 Feb 2006 05:13 GMT20
I currently have a class 3 faa medical certificate. Recently I went
through partial parotidectomey
surgery because I had a benign tumor. I would like to know if I have to
report this to FAA or if I have to re-take the medical test or if I'm
CFI/Commercial Question...25 Feb 2006 01:46 GMT3
I just recently passed my Instrument check ride, and I am working with
my instructor on the next step.
I have my multi-engine rating, and did my instrument rating in the twin-
to build up multi engine time quickly. It was more expensive, but I
Getting close to booking a checkride but....24 Feb 2006 07:06 GMT8
I'm getting close to booking my checkride and after I poke around in the
Arrow III (if it will manage to stay out of maintenance <g>) my CFI tells me
once I show him the complex stuff is looking good that we'll set the date.
Here's my question:
Hello from a "new" student22 Feb 2006 19:04 GMT15
Ok, I'm not really all that "new" (as much as I might feel like it at
the moment)...  I've been lurking around here for a long while and
posted in some other people's threads but I thought it was time to
start one of my own.
How can one tell their CFI is a truly dedicated teacher?22 Feb 2006 02:59 GMT68
It's has been difficult for me to determine if a  motivated CFIs who
are probably desperate building time for ATP, etc really enjoy teaching
and getting their students to learn beyond what the standards and
regulations require for that certificate/rating. What kinds of question
Politeness Question22 Feb 2006 00:47 GMT13
Salutations All,
I've seen previous posters get a severe tongue lashing for posting
advertisements for things they were trying to sell (aviation related
items). I'm looking to buy something - is it considered inpolite to
