This came up in another group and I thought it might be important to you at your stage of the process. https://flighttraining.aopa.org/apps/student/ft_free.cfm?priority=SX06BC I recommend it and you can't beat the price.

| Lost communications procedure | 31 Oct 2006 17:32 GMT | 8 |
Ok... I give up. I just spent 43 minutes looking for the lost communications procedure for arriving at a towered airport. You would think it would be pretty easy to find. I tried the AIM/FAR index, Air Traffic Control chapter... my Gleim's books then the internet.

| Lesson update. | 30 Oct 2006 19:04 GMT | 10 |
Well, did another lesson today. Circuits. I can see I'm going to be on this phase for a while. It;s the final approach I'm having trouble with. Everything else is pretty much text book, with the exception of a tendancy to creep up to 1050 - 1100 on the downwind leg. My radio work is ...

| knowledge test first? | 30 Oct 2006 17:23 GMT | 24 |
I've read that it's possible to take (and hopefully pass) the FAA knowledge test before ever even stepping into a flight school, and I had a few of questions about this. - How realistic is it to expect to pass the test through self-study?

| Solo XC! | 30 Oct 2006 15:33 GMT | 7 |
I flew my first solo xc today from KEKA (Eureka, CA) to KCEC (Crescent City, CA). I took off at 10:45 to beautiful weather. That's a somewhat rare event on the northcoast of California. I headed north, climbing to my 4500 foot cruise level. In my Ercoupe that took me about 10 ...

| How would you enter this pattern... | 29 Oct 2006 20:15 GMT | 9 |
I have a question about how you would enter the pattern for this particular airport, and the AIM seems kind of vague in this area. I will start with "Yes, enter the downwind on a 45..." as that is pretty obvious, but my question is more about how you would overfly the airport to

| Air Laws question | 28 Oct 2006 06:41 GMT | 16 |
Reading my student manuals this morning, I came across an air law that confused me. I can't remember the exact wording at the moment, so I'll try to paraphrase it here in my own words as best I can.

| Flaky, unreliable instructors | 28 Oct 2006 01:30 GMT | 47 |
Nearly a month ago I scheduled a dual XC for tonight. This morning the instructor called to say he was flaking out on me, he has a better offer. I don't expect anyone to do anything about this. I'm just ranting. The

| Mobile Battleship Flyover | 26 Oct 2006 19:29 GMT | 3 |
I have an ATC question concerning a trip I'm planning to Fairhope, AL (4R4) that goes through Mobile, AL: I want to fly over the battleship in Mobile Bay. It is within Mobile Downtown (BFM) class D, and just barely outside of Mobile Regional

| how to execute this go around | 26 Oct 2006 05:53 GMT | 12 |
The situation is this: I am flying a Cessna 172 on short final, Rwy 27, when the 172 on the ground announces taking the runway for departure. She apparently has her radio turned down and does not check final for traffic. I initiate a go around and sidestep the runway to the south

| Power-On Stalls in a Cessna 172 for skittish students | 26 Oct 2006 04:51 GMT | 61 |
In a Cessna 172 the deck angle in a power-on stall (at full power) can be quite unnerving to a student pilot seeing one for the first time. What do the CFI's out there think about first introducing the power-on stall at a lower power setting (like 2300 RPM or so) so that the ...

| Lesson progress. | 25 Oct 2006 00:08 GMT | 9 |
Well, had my fourth excursion into the aviation world today! We did stalls, and we also did some circuits. Stalls in the Gazelle are almost a non-event. It stalls at about 42kts, and rarely drops a wing, if ever. Did a few of those, and some revision on climbing and descending turns ...
