a bug got me....31 Jan 2007 05:21 GMT7
When I woke up Saturday morning, it looked like there might be a
couple hours where I could get in some landings before the heavy rains
arrived.  I headed to the airport and decided to fly a Cherokee since
the visibility is better in the pattern than a C172.  Even though I
Through the eyes of a student :)30 Jan 2007 23:17 GMT11
Instructing is opening so many different perspectives for me; that is,
seeing the experiences of my primary students 'through their eyes'.  It
surprises me in so many ways.  For instance, after performing side slips and
then later in the week doing forward slips, my student came ...
What's so fascinating about the tail draggers ?28 Jan 2007 03:57 GMT50
Saw an acrobat plane two days earlier, a tail wheeler. People pointed
toa flight school across the field saying that they almost exclusively
do
tail draggers. Even a young guy in his 20s said he likes the tail
This is all FAA BULLSHIT27 Jan 2007 07:15 GMT1
This is all FAA BULLSHIT. The REAL reason for record delays
are...
1. Pissed off controllers going by the book (Time in trail)
because FAA Management treats their controllers and
Practice written tests for Sport Pilot license27 Jan 2007 02:51 GMT4
I'm getting close to taking my sport pilot written test
and I've been trying to find an online source that will
generate random 40 question tests based on the test pool
questions.  Has anyone else found such a site?
Tracfone for student pilots25 Jan 2007 20:08 GMT41
I have a student now and then that doesn't have a cell phone (currently have
one in just that situation) and he is getting close to solo cross-country
time and I'd feel better if he had a cell phone to borrow for the flight (I
can't spare, mine).  Any other instructors do this ...
How to talk to FSS out of radio range25 Jan 2007 13:57 GMT8
I can not find in any printed materials on how to contact FSS if you
are more than 100 miles away from the FSS. If "122.1R"
is marked on top of a nearby VOR's text box on the sectional  with
the FSS station identifier printed below, is  122.1 the frequency

Videotaping from the rear seat with intercom audio22 Jan 2007 04:46 GMT4
I'm thinking about taking my video camera on a flight (Cessna 172) to
record some video and audio.  For the audio portion of the recording,
instead of taping engine noise, I'd like to hook up the video camera to
one of the spare headphone outputs so I can get the intercom
Identify this aircraft, anyone?22 Jan 2007 01:51 GMT5
Good morning.
A friend sent me this photo, which appears to be an enormous flying wing,
perhaps of WW2 vintage. Can anyone here identify it? I have had no luck
searching for it on the Internet. Perhaps it is a model, or a faked photo?
Starting with sim experience21 Jan 2007 15:19 GMT25
I have been mainly lurking around here several years with a passion for
flight. No, this isn't a troll, and I hope I'm not opening up a shouting
match.
I am hoping to start lessons in a few weeks. I have been hoping to do this
Slightly OT: MS Fligh sim X question19 Jan 2007 18:07 GMT1
I have not played much with the flight sims but I was wondering if wake
turbulence is modelled in the new version. It does not seem to be so on
FS2004 at least.
$100 Hamburger18 Jan 2007 19:25 GMT8
Yesterday I launched a new website designed to list attractions and
restaurants near airports throughout the US. This is a user based
website that is completely free, no passwords, no user-names, just free
information. Obviously because the site is so new not many pilots have
student life insurance16 Jan 2007 18:40 GMT40
Hi, I'm thinking about taking a discovery/intro flight possibly in the
coming weeks. Granted that student instruction is one of the safest
forms of flight, I want to make sure my family is taken care of
financially should anything go sour.
Caution Wake Turbulence13 Jan 2007 16:12 GMT11
When ATC says "Caution, Wake Turbulence" and you're in a c172 or c150,
what are your actions?  Say like if you're on short final, do you
request to go around?  I know you should stay above their flight path,
but if you don't know exactly where that is...
