Condensation in the tank30 Jun 2007 02:57 GMT10
I'm just wondering why condensation in the fuel tanks doesn't seem to be a
big issue in flight.
It seems to me that during a climb, as the temperature drops below the dew
point, the potential for condensation to form in a half full tank is just

My latest sailplane flight29 Jun 2007 16:37 GMT3
I'm updating my post regarding sailplanes. Glad to see my previous post had
replies!
I'm a 90 hour student-license pilot. I first soloed quite a while ago; 1970
in fact. At the end of my teenage career, I had 45 hours glider & 13 hours

A friend is away from home (Athens, Greece) at Newport News, Virginia till

He is interested to know if there is an airfield near there with Flight
School where he can do his FAA PPL.

Type 1 Diabetes and medical certification28 Jun 2007 14:49 GMT25
Does anyone here have type 1 diabetes and have been able to receive
your medical certification? I've just been bitten by the flying bug,
and looking through the "Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners" it has
a section that (pretty clearly) say that with the proper documentation
Anyone interested in sailplanes?27 Jun 2007 22:04 GMT18
I'm a student pilot, under 90 hours in sailplanes. I rent, flying from Great
Western, based beside the San Gabriel mountains in Southern California.
Today I ridge-soared most of the range, including Mt. Baldy. A year ago, I
wouldn't have believed it possible.
Two questions about flight training27 Jun 2007 01:48 GMT7
I was wondering if I could get some input from you guys or gals.
I asked my wife if she wanted to go on an introductory flight lesson
for her birthday. She said yes and got very excited about going all
the way. She is scheduled to fly this weekend.
Third Lesson24 Jun 2007 17:28 GMT32
Finally got in my third lesson (stinking winds).  I found I still had
a real reluctance to pour on full power on takeoff.  So much so that
on my first takeoff, I left the ground and still had not put in full
throttle.  So on my second takeoff, I decided to just force myself to
BAK exam.23 Jun 2007 16:34 GMT1
Well, I arrived at the airfield about 30 minutes early, to find the a/c
tied down ready to go.
Sky was overcast, but no rain, and visibility was easily 10k +.
Today was a dual session, with the intent to knock off some of the as
Upset Training?21 Jun 2007 00:24 GMT22
The lightning post has generated more talk about aerobatics than
lightening so lets address unusual attitudes?
As many have noted and posted, and on an old subject re;spins and
training in addition to basic aerobatics. Back in the 50's I soloed in
High performance/complex training20 Jun 2007 20:09 GMT8
I'm trying to decide whether it would be beneficial to get checked out in a
182RG before starting training in a Seminole.  If I'm used to a 172 with no
high perf./complex experience, would it be a huge benefit to spend a few
hours in a 182RG first to get up to speed on the prop, ...
commercial questions20 Jun 2007 02:23 GMT5
If I get a commercial pilot license will that allow me to carry passengers
NOT for hire but at rental cost, ie, They rent the airplane rather than me
paying at least 50%, and what about all that "what is the intent of the
flight" business?
Fourth Lesson19 Jun 2007 19:23 GMT16
The saga continues...
Two lessons in one week - woo hoo!
This time for takeoff we had about a 7 knot crosswind, pretty much
right across the runway.  My instructor explained what I should do
Landing or Take-Off13 Jun 2007 21:50 GMT5
I just have to pass along a comment I heard from a co-worker this
morning.  I was talking about my flying lesson, and I said that I had
made three take-offs, and that I hadn't botched any of them.  She said
that if you had to choose between botching a take-off or a landing, it
