plane.is there any particular distance upto which a plane has to
travell before moving towards direction of its destination. Or before

Airplane vs. Auto30 Jan 2008 16:01 GMT87
The POH for the C150M calls it the "Commuter".  I'm sure the marketing guys
at Cessna envisioned the sky full of these little airplanes carting people
around and I always chuckled at the concept.  But maybe it wasn't such a
goofy idea after all.
What about the Students.30 Jan 2008 02:49 GMT108
I thought this was supposed to be a forum for student pilots? Why
can't it be just that without adding all this extra crap. Can't we
just have a forum for pilots and students were relevant questions are
asked and answered or is or is that too much to ask of some of the
AZZholes29 Jan 2008 21:42 GMT45
how come there are so many idiotic a.sholes on here. If these are the
new generation of pilots I am truly not surprised by the incompetence
in the skies that seems to be the trend these days. People crash
SR-20s these days. How do you crash an airplane with a parachute while
Things I Learned at Work Today29 Jan 2008 20:53 GMT7
1. The area where you safety wire the oil filter on a Diamond DA20 is really
close to the positive battery terminal.
2. Safety wire gets really hot really fast when it short-circuits the
battery.
The $%#@!&^ Weather.29 Jan 2008 17:11 GMT56
How do you feel global warming will affect aviation. After all the
biggest safety factor in flying is the weather. And these days it is
going haywire.
ILS approach into KHKS29 Jan 2008 09:11 GMT8
Today's approach into KHKS.

On launch celings were 600 and tops were 1700 solid OVC.
By the time I got to HKS, ceilings were about 700 and broken.
timer or stopwatch for IFR flying29 Jan 2008 06:57 GMT14
I'm starting to work on my IR and my instructor told me "Get a good
stopwatch". This is for procedure turns, etc. The planes we fly in are
rentals, sort of, and don't have all the equipment that I'd put in a
plane for IFR flight (although some are quite nicely equiped). In
Taxi clearance28 Jan 2008 18:11 GMT29
I just received something from the FAA (link below) and (to me) it is quite
frustrating when they get terminology incorrect, they say:
"A clearance to "taxi to" the takeoff runway assigned to the aircraft is not
a clearance to cross the assigned takeoff runway, or to taxi on that ...

contacting the tower.

I got quite a surprise for Christmas this year. My wife wrote me a
check to cover my instrument training!
I met with my instructor today and have some work to do to get
started. I'm excited about the prospects and nervous about the work
Learning flying vs. driving21 Jan 2008 05:33 GMT293
Anybody ever ponder the very different ways in which we approach
learning (or teaching) how to drive vs. how to fly?
I'm sitting here reading about aerodynamics to understand lift and
drag etc.  Thinking back to when I learned to drive - I didn't study
