IFR Flight and Radio Comms29 Feb 2008 06:14 GMT32
I have a simple question (shouldn't generate more than 200-300
responses :-)).
How long did it take those of you who have an IR to cope with the
communications?

Flying over Class D25 Feb 2008 21:29 GMT31
Simple question:
If the ceiling of a Class D airport was 2900' and you intended to overfly
it at 3000', would it be a good idea to check in with the tower to let them
know you're up there or would they consider it wasting their time?
Class G airports with airline service25 Feb 2008 21:10 GMT13
I'm looking at flying into a small class G
airport that has regular commuter service.
There's no info in the A/FD concerning security.
Is there any specific precautions I should
Help monitoring air traffic?25 Feb 2008 14:40 GMT10
Can anyone point me to:
1) A good airband radio, for listening to commercial aircraft and CTAFs?
I have a pretty good one, but it's old and analog so it's difficult
to zero in on a frequency, and there can sometimes be 2 active

Can any body answer this question:
Why the angle of bank AOB is not a factor that affects the stall speed
of an aircraft?
Thanks.
Table for crossover hours?22 Feb 2008 21:20 GMT2
Where can I find a table or chart that would show what hours (and any other
info) can be carried from one rating to another? For example, I'm interested
in obtaining sport pilot rating from a private glider pilot one. A published
book, and/or FAA  regs would be helpful.

Just looking at the Significant Weather Charts over at ADDS

I'm looking at a triangle (with the base down) with a rain dot inside it
and a slash with the freezing rain symbol on the other side.

Discover Flight today...unexpected results15 Feb 2008 10:44 GMT12
Hi all.  I'm a 39 year old guy who has loved flying and dreamt of
being a pilot for a long time.  This year I finally realized that I
had more than enough money to start and figured I owed it to myself to
book a discovery flight with every intention of seeing it through to
Rotorwash14 Feb 2008 22:44 GMT7
Is rotorwash a problem for a light airplane?
We've got lots of helo training at my airport and they're always doing
strange things like flying down taxiways at 2 feet off the ground.
Throughout my training I never saw a mention of rotorwash so I just assumed
Safety Pilot11 Feb 2008 20:08 GMT20
Is there anything other than a PP certificate one would need to be a
"safety pilot".   If the aircraft was complex for example, would the safety
pilot need a complex endorsement?
I'm asking because I think I'd like to throw myself out there as a safety

I have compressed those seven SHORT years to 3 minutes, 1 second, a
