| R22 owners please help with AD 2004-06-52 | 28 Apr 2004 16:33 GMT | 20 |
For those of you unaware the FAA has issued an emergency AD (2004-06-52) on March 18, 2004 that requires any R22 blade older than 10 years may no longer be used. The basis for the AD is questionable. Little if any documented research was done to verify that the age of

| NACA Chord Balance point | 27 Apr 2004 06:05 GMT | 3 |
Does anybody know how to mathmatically tell where the balance point should be on a NACA 63-015 airfoil? On a single number NACA airfoil, like NACA 0012, the number represents the balance point in percent from the big end. With two number airfoils, how do you figure it out?

| Transition from high time Rotorcraft to stuck wing. | 23 Apr 2004 05:11 GMT | 4 |
If all you've ever flown (seriously) is helicopters and 99.99% of your time is in turbines, how hard is it to transition to fixed wing? (not asking FARs, just practical stuff) Bart

| Seating Arrangements | 23 Apr 2004 01:33 GMT | 8 |
On another forum, the question has been raised as to why the pilot in a heli usually sits on the right (excepting tandem cockpit arrangements, obviously!), when in a fixed wing aircraft the PIC sits on the left. Does anyone here know the definitive answer? In fact, IS there a ...

| Weird Emergencies | 19 Apr 2004 23:33 GMT | 19 |
Over the past weekend in San Diego, an 84 year old man decided to unstrap and get out of the aircraft while on short final. It killed him of course. He was in a biplane but it reminded me of some incidents when I had passengers who became the emergency in

| Why is R22 so expensive? | 12 Apr 2004 13:14 GMT | 4 |
I was told recently that a used R-22 Beta goes for around $120-$140K. If this is true, why are they so much more expensive than prop aircraft? Thanks.
