| Curiosity of the first order | 29 Sep 2004 16:38 GMT | 14 |
I'm quite curious about this groups response to an announcement of a new magazine about experimental helicopters. There has been essentially no response. I'm sure surprised. Is there a basis for this group that I'm unaware of that would create a total lack of curiosity or ...

| Bad Moon Rising | 29 Sep 2004 07:55 GMT | 1 |
I'm not on the flight schedule until Tuesday morning so I'm not really thinking about flying Sunday as I'm watching Drew Brees overthrow disgustingly wide open receivers and seeing the Jets walk all over the Chargers. (go team.. yawn) I'm well into the 6 pack I reserved for

| Over another hurdle? | 25 Sep 2004 02:40 GMT | 3 |
Got in another hour this morning before work. Ship was fresh off a 50 hour maintenance workover so the preflight went smoothly and quickly. Almost got complacent during the preflight by not looking at the checklist for each step. Caught my omission (forgot to check throttle

| One hour closer.... | 21 Sep 2004 11:58 GMT | 3 |
Monday morning I got up early, got the kids dressed and fed and hauled 'em off to school. Dropped 'em off with the usual back seat shenanigans (or however you spell it) and headed to the field. Having been disappointed the past couple times down because of maintenance, I

| ...and the hours keep building.. | 18 Sep 2004 07:18 GMT | 3 |
3rd hop this week and I got to fly a ship I'd never flown before. 4th R22 Beta II I've flown and this one is by far the quietest of the bunch. Today was the same deal as yesterday. Up at the crack of dawn, roust the kids and hit the road by 7 - only the kids did pretty

| To the guy writing the heli lesson diary: | 15 Sep 2004 02:49 GMT | 27 |
I don't post here often but I have read w/ interest your diary of flight lessons. A few questions if you don't mind: Why are you cooling down an R22 ( I assume from your threads that is what you're flying) for five minutes before you disengage the clutch?

Kruger National Park in South Africa, early 70's. Working with game rangers to do health checks on elephants. Using a Bell 206 with doors off, game ranger with a dart gun and heavy duty tranquilizers, a specific herd of elephants... get them moving out in line to avoid the

| The "Whirl": More Efficient Rotary Craft? | 10 Sep 2004 16:11 GMT | 5 |
Here's something I was reading: http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996380 So beyond the mere claim of being more efficient, why would it actually be so? The claim of hovering for 4 days is quite a jump, when compared to Global Hawk.

| disk loading | 09 Sep 2004 17:45 GMT | 1 |
I am looking for a list or a library of Disk Loadings and Power Loadings for some rotating-Wing Aircrafts (especially VTOLs). I have found some peculiar data on V22 Osprey (different DL in a site and in a book??), so I wnted to make sure...

| Gyrocopters on Ebay | 08 Sep 2004 06:52 GMT | 1 |
I've been looking for a gyroplane ready to fly. I've seen a few offered on eBay, went to look at them and they we rarely described correctly. I've seen one on ebay that's in California and it has a good description, good pictures and so on, but that's quite a drive to
