Jantar Std. 331 Mar 2005 22:50 GMT2
The SZD dealer from Canada, the Windpath Corp. is attempting to sell
brand new SZD48-3 Jantar Std. 3. The deal is that Jantar is a excellent
Sport Class glider. I think at this point and time the price is above
30,000 Euros but if the Windpath could find couple more buyers the

Storm damaged 1-34 and it's trailer for sale. No undamaged sections, but
many useable parts if you care to dissect them out. Open trailer very
functional with 1-34 fittings, USA lighting and plugs. All instruments
removed. Make (serious) offer.
Cell phones in the air30 Mar 2005 23:01 GMT36
I've seen a couple of references to someone not wanting us to use cell
phones while gliding. I haven't seen the reason... what's the rationale?
AOPA urges allowing cell phone use in general aviation30 Mar 2005 20:44 GMT7
One of the reasons I'm an AOPA member, even though I don't fly
airplanes, is they sometimes do good things. This is from their site
(www.aopa.org), on the Home page:
> General aviation pilots should be able to use cell phones in the cockpit
1800km Sierra Wave XC Flight Today30 Mar 2005 19:53 GMT23
Today Gordon Boettger flew his Kestrel on a 3TP flight of about 1800km
out of Minden, Nevada.  A sunrise takeoff lead to the first turn near
Chilcoot, then South to near Inyokern, back North to Susanville, then
down to Palmdale.  This flight handily beats my flight of last year on
Dehydration30 Mar 2005 14:59 GMT23
There is a tendency for us to put dehydration into an all or nothing
category. We say things like, "Yeah, he was dehydrated and crashed,
remember to drink more water, next time". Dehydration comes in degrees
from slightly dehydrated, all the way up to loss of consciousness. By
Hydration/Dehydration/'Overhydration'.30 Mar 2005 08:16 GMT2
Mike,
I am not aware of this theory - which does not, in
the least, mean that it does not exist - especially
now that I am no longer current in Medicine.
Hydration/Dehydration/'Overhydration'.30 Mar 2005 01:30 GMT2
Gentlefolk,
You need to be careful with rehydration - especially
in tropical climes.
Your body loses salt as well as water when you sweat

noise pollution from private planes29 Mar 2005 16:42 GMT15
I live in a relatively quiet city, until recently. A flight school
opened up across the bay from me, and all day long, all I can hear
outside are these private plane motor noises.
It is really awful. It is like having a gas powered lawn mower
DG Electrical Plug Source29 Mar 2005 16:19 GMT1
Can anyone point me toward a US source for the plug used by DG for
battery connections. The male plug has a barrel approximately 1/2 inch
in diameter and 3/8 long with a small pin tip extending out about
another 3/8.
Nanotechnology and soaring29 Mar 2005 15:50 GMT1
A visit yesterday to Londons science and technology museum yesterday
with the family involved an interesting session in the nanotechnology
display. Of course my mind was occupied with thoughts on how NT could
be applied to soaring/sailplanes and the section on coatings was
HANDHELD RADIO29 Mar 2005 15:03 GMT15
All,
I have been using a JRC JHP-500 handheld radio for field communications
and have been a bit disappointed with it's performance.  It has a
standard 6" flex antenna.  When I am in the air and someone tries to
Clubs in Netherlands.29 Mar 2005 11:35 GMT1
In the second half of April I'll be most probably travelling to Netherlands,
to the Oss near Nijmegen. Is there any club close to this location? Just to
jump in and watch their operations for a while as flying as a passenger
there could be too expensive for me (well, had no time to ...
