Blanik tire problem30 Sep 2005 18:02 GMT5
The Blanik has a 350 x 135 tire.  Apparently the company that used to

Blanik operator has been told that the appropriate tube is 500 x 5.
In the last week, there have been 3 flat tires on the Blanik.  Each

I received an email from the FAA the other day concerning the normal

Standards.  Here is your chance to influence the regulator and make
your pitch for what should be added, deleted or expanded in the current

Soaring club close to NYC, with high-performance gliders29 Sep 2005 11:55 GMT10
I am a newly minted private pilot and I really want to try this soaring
thing (and possibly even get a glider rating.) I live in NYC and fly out of
Caldwell, NJ (CDW). Being a proud owner of a composite airplane (Diamond
Star) I am hoping to take my introductory ride and further ...
Re:pitot blockage29 Sep 2005 01:16 GMT1
If the Astir is at all like the Grob 103 twin II the
pitot tube is probably a straight copper tube.  Use
some heavy duty safety wire to poke through the insect
debris that is probably blocking the aft part.  Disconnect

Through the eye of the needle (long)28 Sep 2005 12:48 GMT2
I have been exploring the potential of the mountains along the Wasatch
Front of Utah for ridge and wave flying for several years.  I posted a
note several years ago about some of my early experiences (Ridge
running the Wasatch, R.A.S. Oct 9, 2001).  Since that time I have flown

Was wondering if someone in Germany might have the latest inside info on
production.  (possibly a few being produced now?)
I see it has done well in a few contests this year.
Thanks.
Early season Sierra Wave flight28 Sep 2005 04:50 GMT1
Reading about the ridge flight in Utah reminded me that I should post
some details of the wave flight that I had on the 23rd of Sept.  I fly
with the Sierra Soaring Club out of Inyokern CA.  Friday I was
scheduled to take a family friend for a ride.  He is a 17 year old who
towing with helicopter?28 Sep 2005 04:28 GMT10
This completely ignores the desires/requirements for efficiency, cost
and cycle time, but has anyone out there ever towed a glider with a
helicopter?
