Be sure to check out the 4 video segments on flying

US ELT Installation31 Dec 2005 19:39 GMT59
As I understand the racing rules for 2006, the SSA has decided to
mandate ELT installation for all competitors.  The ELT must be
permanently mounted inside the glider.  Personal ELTs will not suffice.
This is all complicated by the FAA's decision to obsolete some existing
Pocket PC Training CD31 Dec 2005 16:56 GMT1
I'm excited to announce a new training tool for soaring pilots.  The first
product available is a training CD with tips and examples on how to use
Pocket PCs.  It includes screen capture videos with voice-overs.  You can
see details here:
Gliding Experience Helps31 Dec 2005 13:46 GMT19
To all of my flying friends,
Glider Training is what seamlessly enabled me to switch gears and take this
event in stride on this one. A guardian angel might have helped as well.
I was talking to Detroit Metro tower, circling over a densely populated site

I've just found the following reference on comp.risks:
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/helthrpt/stories/s1529677.htm
It looks at the possibilities of applying aviation-style accident
prevention to medicine and contains a good, thought-provoking review of
L23 weight and balance31 Dec 2005 01:54 GMT5
I understand how to determine the CG from the charts in the manual. But,
I would like to do it the traditional way - you know, moment = arm *
weight....
The manual does not provide the arm numbers for the various positions,
Landing Check Lists31 Dec 2005 00:49 GMT24
I wonder how many different landing checklists are in use.  If the list
you use is not USTALL, (Undercarriage, Speed, Trim, Airbrakes, Look out
for Traffic, Land), please post here and label the items.
Peter F Selinger31 Dec 2005 00:02 GMT1
I'm trying to contact Peter F. Selinger in regard to several of the very
nice soaring books he has helped create.  Can anyone direct me to his e-mail
address?  Please e-mail it to me directly - don't post it on this forum.
Thanks,
12v -> 12v charger30 Dec 2005 21:58 GMT20
I currently charge the (hard to remove) batteries in my ASH-26E with a
solar panel and charger installed on/in my trailer.  During a contest,
the plane may not spend much time in the trailer during daylight hours,
but it does spend most nights in there.
SOARING IN 200630 Dec 2005 19:39 GMT1
To all you glider pilots out there
Here's to wishing you a great but especially a safe soaring season in
2006, with 12+ knot thermals and endless cloudstreets at 18,000 feet.
Cheers,  Charles
US ELT installation issues for 2006 contests - clarification??30 Dec 2005 01:43 GMT4
Reading through some previous emails on this leaves
me a little confused;
Here's what I *think* I understand;
1  Experimental gliders;  ELT does not need to be TSO'd,

IBOT T-Shirts30 Dec 2005 00:30 GMT1
Several years ago I purchased several IBOT (International Brotherhood
of Tow Pilots) T-Shirts from a booth at the SSA Convention.  I have not
seen the shirts at the last 2 or 3 conventions.  Anyone have a lead on
where to purchase--or who to contact?
