Instr. Overhaul and Leak Test31 Jan 2006 18:22 GMT4
I tested my static/pitot system per Mike Borgelt's
instructions and found immediately my airspeed indicator
(used as the pressure gauge) had a small leak.
Right before Christmas, I sent the instrument to 'Century
SSA Convention goers - please read this...31 Jan 2006 17:38 GMT8
1. Soaring will die without attracting 20-to-30-year-olds.
2. 20-to-30-year-olds listen to podcasts (http://tinyurl.com/ad39p).
3. The SSA convention is the single best source of audio on soaring.
4. Please RECORD the SSA convention with your CELLPHONE, read:
IPAQ 4700/470531 Jan 2006 13:01 GMT9
I've been shopping these on eBay lately. For the time being, the
selling prices I've seen lead me to think buying new is the best
option.
I was wondering if anyone has seen one of these up close and personal.
Glider purchase fraud31 Jan 2006 02:49 GMT3
Hello Pilots,
I have a sailplane for sale and have listed it on all
the usual sites.  I just received an offer (barely
literate) similar to those discussed by and warned
Jet sailplane demonstration at SSA convention31 Jan 2006 00:18 GMT1
I'll have the jet sailplane on display at the 2006
SSA convention.  Last year in Ontario, I fired up the
engines in the parking lot.  The few who were there
seemed to get a kick out of it.  I'd be willing to
EMERGENCY AIR PUMPS30 Jan 2006 23:29 GMT7
Does anyone have any experience or can make a recommendation for a
portable air pump ?  This would be to add some air to a main tire
without having to go back to the shack for a "real" heavy-duty
compressor.
ASW-19 Moment Arms30 Jan 2006 22:52 GMT9
I would like to be able to calculate the actual CG position for my
ASW-19B, in addition to using Schleicher's cockpit load CG check. I
found some data in the AS Airworthiness Test Report and more in the FAA
Type Certificate Data Sheet, but 3 items are still unknown. Schleicher
Winch Launch Stresses on Vintage Gliders30 Jan 2006 21:29 GMT31
Our club is exploring switching from aero tow to winch launching.  Some of
our members own older wooden gliders and have expressed concerns about the
increased stress on the glider's structure resulting from winch launching
vs. aero tow.
Zaino30 Jan 2006 16:15 GMT5
Having just washed and waxed the car with Zaino, I am wondering if
anyone has used it on their sailplane.  The Zaino web site states that
it is OK for fiberglass and gel coat.  Any one used it?  What
results/problems?
Sky Sailing in Early March?30 Jan 2006 07:52 GMT2
I need to be in the San Diego area for a conference in early March and
am contemplating taking a few extra days off and driving down there
(from the SF Bay Area) with my glider rather than flying.  I've done
this before, going to Pasadena and flying two days at Great Western
Flying in So-Cal and Albuquerque area30 Jan 2006 07:09 GMT2
I´m from Brazil. I´ll be on short trip to USA in Apr. I´ll spend few
days in So-Cal (San Diego) area and a few more in Albuquerque. There is
gliding activity in these areas at that time? If so..where?
Thanks

DG-300 instrument panel29 Jan 2006 14:48 GMT14
I'm thinking of starting anew with the instrument panel in the 300.
The Terra 720 radio is out,  and the L-NAV works, but it came with an
old Garmin 95 GPS, which looks more like a typewriter, and no logger.
I'm looking to do a Cambridge 302, with a good radio, and remove the
Podcast the SSA Convention!  (attendees needed)29 Jan 2006 11:53 GMT2
The SSA won't record the convention this year so lets do it ourselves.
Anyone with a cellphone can record a podcast.  Here's how:
