The proposed rule changes for 2008 US competition soaring

Input is welcome. Final rules proposals go to the SSA for publication
in the board "Blue Book" in mid January.

Characteristics of a good winch site31 Dec 2007 08:48 GMT9
Lots of interest in another thread from US readers in looking for good
winch sites. I thought it might be useful for those of us from countries
where winching is common to give our list of essential and desirable
characteristics for a good winch site.
ASK-21 - is a tail dolly necessary?31 Dec 2007 08:43 GMT7
My club is buying a K-21 for student training and I am wondering if a
tail dolly is necessary for ground handling?
We plan to get the tail wheel option - not the tail skid.
Does the K21 balance like the Twin Astir so it is easy to turn on the
In Flight Video30 Dec 2007 22:19 GMT7
What are people using to get in flight video?  I am thinking about
putting some sort of bullet camera on the Cherokee for this upcoming
season.  I figure if im going to land out all the time I might as well
get some of it on tape so i can share with my friends :) Any sort of
CFIs30 Dec 2007 18:14 GMT2
Thank you all for your quick and thoughtful responses. Every thought
expressed has value. I own a good winch, but have not made even one
launch with it.. I need help.
Yes, the 2-33 back seat is tough compared to our DG 500. 5 hours in
CFIs30 Dec 2007 17:19 GMT11
Where are the CFIs?
Without enough good CFIs... the number of new soaring pilots will
decline.
A potential CFI asked me what is the first requirement to become a

The Relief Band for Nausea Relief29 Dec 2007 21:50 GMT28
I've reviewed the relief band in the context of my experience as a
glider pilot.  I'd love to hear comments from other pilots about their
experiences.

Playing Russian Roulette on gliderpilot.net29 Dec 2007 21:38 GMT4
It works like this. You spend a long time writing a
learned technical, instructional, or witty piece, and
then try to post it onto gliderpilot.net. The 'fun'
comes from seeing whether it will be accepted, or disappear

Is there an archive of old posts?29 Dec 2007 05:37 GMT4
I remember seeing recommendations for digital cameras.  Since I laid mine my
Casio point & shoot down somewhere, I'm in the market for a new one.  Thus,
is there an archive of the old posts?  I purchased and tried the Panasonic
Lunex DMC-FZ18, but returned it because I don't like ...
(USA) Airport data now available with Airspace files28 Dec 2007 18:34 GMT1
In addition to the NDF-based airspace files that subscribers at
justsoar.com will receive, turnpoint files describing airports from
the current FAA NASR database will also be provided with the download.
I think this feature will be pretty useful. If you provide a turnpoint

More SeeYou Mobile questions...27 Dec 2007 16:50 GMT7
I've been replaying some flights (recorded by my 302) on my PDA to get
to know SeeYou Mobile. I plan on flying with it next season and want
to be already familiar come spring. I decided to see what the thermal
assistant is all about. It doesn't seem to make much sense to me. I
