Mammoth airport closed temporarily31 Aug 2008 23:41 GMT1
I was going to use Mammmoth as one of my safety airports today, but
found out it was closed for resurfacing! The NOTAM states

Ka-6 TE Probe30 Aug 2008 03:17 GMT14
My Ka-6 currently has no TE compensation for the Vario. At one time it
had a Scheumann compensator installed, but this nifty box didn't come
with the glider. So now I am looking to install a TE probe.
Does anyone have any recent experience in installing one?
GPS-NAV security sealing29 Aug 2008 02:28 GMT33
Is there a way to input a security code in a Cambridge GPS_NAV and seal it
without spending hundreds of dollars?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Looking for an IS-28B2 canopy...28 Aug 2008 22:32 GMT1
I believe someone sold an IS-28B2 in the past year or so on W+W, that
was accompanied by an extra canopy and frame.  Does anyone know where
that canopy is, or where there might be another spare one in the US?
Thanks...
Happy Birthday, Hod Taylor!!!28 Aug 2008 03:52 GMT4
Hod Taylor celebrated his 89th birthday August 20 with a 2 1/2 hour
flight over the beautiful Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe in a Duo Discus
out of Minden.  Many readers will remember Hod from his days at Black
Forest Soaring, where he flew a triple lennie and entertained other
another gelcoat story28 Aug 2008 01:26 GMT29
When we made my fuselage, it was winter and we were heating the shop
with a propane heater. Propane releases moisture during combustion.
So........molds are waxed multiple times, gelcoat (shurfab polyester
product) is sprayed into the mold, we leave the heater on and go home

HP Pocket PC Contact Needed27 Aug 2008 23:02 GMT3
This may seem off-topic, but actually it is not.  I have been doing a lot of
testing with my iPAQ 210 and several soaring GPS units and CF Card GPS units
(through a CF Card Serial Port) and I seem to have found a bug in the iPAQ
210's hardware or software.   The GPS data is ...
Grob 103 Twin II (non acro) manual27 Aug 2008 19:40 GMT1
Any chance that someone knows where to find a Grob 103 Twin II (non-
acro) maintenance manual, faster than we may get it from the Grob
company, I'd really appreciate the help. We've got an odd serial #3574
and its a hybrid between a Twin Astir and a Twin II with rudder cables

Uvalde... Question26 Aug 2008 20:05 GMT3
Heard a rumor that the Aiport Manager was trying to end future contests in
Uvalde by making glider ground ops difficult - including banning assemblies
from the ramp. Any truth in this?
W&B - personal seat moment arm26 Aug 2008 17:30 GMT14
Last week I took advantage of a very generous offer by another club member
of the free use of accurate scales to weigh my glider.  We followed the
maintenance manual procedure to get the empty weight and CG.  Then I
strapped on my parachute and climbed in with my usual cushions ...
Volkslogger - set home point trouble26 Aug 2008 15:44 GMT5
I've had a Volkslogger for 6 years now and I really am pleased with
it.  There is one feature that really does not work good for me,
setting the home point.
I like to set the home point every time I upload a new turnpoint
OLC Problems?25 Aug 2008 23:39 GMT1
Checking to see if I am the only person with this problem.  OLC for
region 11 is stuck on 17 August when I sign on.  No dates are
available after 17 August.

CAI 302 A25 Aug 2008 21:03 GMT1
I have had an in-flight failure with this unit.
It showed at first no GPS. I restarted it and it would work ok
for 5-7 minutes. then the same again.
The next day it would not acquire a GPS signal at all but
