antenna dilemma25 Sep 2008 05:44 GMT10
My buddies tell me my handheld is too painfull to listen to anymore. I
would put in a panel mount, but since I have a mostly carbon aircraft,
where should I put the antenna? Too late to install it in the rudder,
or is there a solution that would allow me to install one in the
Club Class vs. Sports Class25 Sep 2008 02:52 GMT28
OK, so I made a long post in one thread about competition classes...
5U started another thread about the Rules Committee and I was really
tempted to respond to Karl's comments there; but I didn't want to
hijack the topic.  So I'll post this in a new topic instead:
Ground launch payout winch systems...Are they suitable for gliders?24 Sep 2008 22:26 GMT12
It seems that a payout winch similar to those used for hang gliders
might be useful as a more efficient alternative to auto tows. You can
make better use of the runway length and have perhaps a safer launch
with proper calibration. Is anyone using such systems? Are they
Best club and commercial web sites24 Sep 2008 19:38 GMT21
Which clubs and commercial operations have outstanding web sites that
make people eager to give soaring a try?  Out of date sites with
pictures that don’t include recent improvements and  photographs that
are obviously from another decade can’t help us recruit members.
Tie Down Straps - Help Needed24 Sep 2008 17:38 GMT25
I am trying to provide a very high quality sailplane tie-down kit and I need
the help of this very knowledgeable group.
A customer of mine recommended that I buy and sell the tie-down system that
Cobra offers.  I did some research and talked to Cobra about it.  I came to
LX-Polar Program24 Sep 2008 04:27 GMT6
does anybody have a usable, step-by-step decription of the LX-Polar
program? The instructions that came with the manual of my LX-20-2000
are pretty useless. I have a polar curve for my glider and I am trying
to calculate the factors a, b and c used to define the polar.
Rules Committee23 Sep 2008 23:07 GMT5
I am currently running for the rules committee. The polls close on October
the 8th. I have created a blog so you will have the opportunity to know me
better as a potential member.
My intent is to provide you with the opportunity to express your concerns
B40 replacement speaker?23 Sep 2008 16:26 GMT5
I think My B40 speaker is getting kind of weak.  Even at full volume
it is just barely audible, and I'm wondering what to do for a
replacement speaker.
Any suggestions?
iPhone in a glider?23 Sep 2008 08:22 GMT39
Has anyone thought about applications for the iPhone 3G platform in a
glider?  It has an excellent sunlight readable screen with touch
interface that causes no loss of image quality.  It has an
accelerometer built in, a GPS that is probably better than spot,
R2505 restricted airspace...Owens valley.23 Sep 2008 06:00 GMT1
Saw an article in the Antelope Valley press that said something about
expanding R2505 restricted area. It had a map that covered the most
used route for glider pilots flying north and south over the Ownns
Valley. It extended from the present south boundry to almost Bishop.,
Grob 10923 Sep 2008 05:13 GMT13
Thinking of buying a 109A need to know the good the bad and the ugly of it.
Just what do I need to know about it, I have had people say stay away from
it others say it is good if you know how to fly it ?
SRA Poll22 Sep 2008 23:09 GMT18
Thanks BB for the response and explanations. Whether I agree with you or
not it is wonderful to have a little insight into how the rules committee
thinks and to know that someone from the rules committee is listening.  5

Children in gliders?22 Sep 2008 19:34 GMT13
Are there some common guidelines about how big or old kids should be before
going for a glider ride? My concerns are around the safety harnesses being
intended for adults...
How do you ensure the harness is safe and is not going to slip around or off
