Godspeed Bill Bartell19 Feb 2009 05:00 GMT10
Many of us received word this morning that Bill is missing and
presumed dead in a body surfing accident in Mexico (Thanks, Roy).  Was
not sure how it would affect me, but I have been pretty subdued all
day.  Hard to think Bill won't be there to call when I need advice on
Oklahoma Soaring Videos19 Feb 2009 04:49 GMT2
Here are few videos made from our trip to Talihina, OK. We were
hoping to get some wave flights, but ended up doing some ridge
soaring instead. Last month, we did achieve wave lift to over
11,000 feet. Last week, I released to low and had a very challenging

Self-Gripping Vinyl Edge Trim with Metal Core18 Feb 2009 22:42 GMT8
I'm sure SOMEONE out there knows where to get this stuff.  It's used
throughout the interior of my Speed Astir, and must be terribly
common, since it's the exact same material used to trim the the
perimeter of BMW motorcycle windscreens. I even bought a chunk at the

What's the best way to seal up my old Ben Green trailer???18 Feb 2009 20:59 GMT5
I have an old Ben Green metal trailer.  It's spent most of it's life
inside a hanger.  I plan on parking it outside a hanger for a couple
months.  I have not seen any water damage inside on the wood floor,
however I want to make darn sure that no water at all comes through

icing18 Feb 2009 00:29 GMT14
This video was mentioned on backcountrypilot.org. I figured I understood
tailplane icing, etc. But watching the video was an eye-opener. This also
very much applies to pilots who don't plan on flying in icing conditions. A
failed gap seal on a glider comes to mind as well.

The chair style long Softie parachute is designed for comfort and to
maximize the comfort of the contoured seating found in todays high
