French customs requirements27 Feb 2004 09:05 GMT10
What's the state of play when flying to France these days?
I want to go to St Cyr near Paris. Do I need to:

Missing engine26 Feb 2004 16:38 GMT10
I hope this question is relevant to this NG, and not too ridiculous.
If the engine of a twin tubofan aircraft (for argument a B777) became
separated during flight, would the aircraft still be controllable or would
such an event be fatal?
Garmin GPSmap 196 on Cessna 172 Yoke25 Feb 2004 20:11 GMT3
I am planning to have a GPSmap 196 in my Cessna 172 and therefore
would appreciate to learn whether somebody has mounted a 196 on a
172 yoke? If so, may I learn about the mounting gear used - original
Garmin or OEM hardware like RAM?
Radio talk and other PPL issues24 Feb 2004 23:01 GMT4
Good to see some genuine 'Pilot' discussion again at last here. It's become

There must be loads of everyday PPL questions which can be aired here to
share the experiences and wisdom of other UK pilots

WAS; radio talk in the UK20 Feb 2004 09:23 GMT8

The Future of the RAF19 Feb 2004 16:09 GMT12
According to the Sunday Times, the MoD is planning to close six RAF
bases.  Now we know that Lynham and Coltishall are to close, but what
about the remaining as yet unnamed bases?
Taking a wild guess I would like to offer the following:

Frankfurt to Florence leg are the best views of the Alps from the port or
starboard windows (inc Lake Garda?). Comments appreciated.

Fuel drawback - how far back?18 Feb 2004 03:15 GMT18
I've got airport invoices (not the actual receipts anymore) going back
nearly two years, and have only just now got around to getting the
drawback forms sorted out...
How far back in time can I go? I have not seen any limits anywhere.
