Gift for instructor after getting PPL07 Mar 2004 19:19 GMT1
What do people normally buy their CFI after getting their PPL in the UK.
I recently followed a simillar thread in a more American newsgroup and
wondered if it differs from the UK.

Most bonkers rule of flying?07 Mar 2004 12:28 GMT78
I was in the process of answering a post just now, and it occurred to me
that there are some pretty mad rules relating to flying in the UK (and,
presumably, elsewhere).
So what are your favourite "barking mad" rules of aviation?

Folks,
Was hoping for a bit of advice.

Manchester near miss - question06 Mar 2004 23:39 GMT12
If you havent heard about it yet, an A321 had to abort its takeoff on runway
1 when a 737 decided (so it seems) to cross runway 1 on its way back to the
terminal after landing on runway 2 (both aircraft had ATC clearance). I know
it is early and we should wait for the AAIB report ...

Notification to Immigration for UK <-> EU flights?04 Mar 2004 14:50 GMT4
My local airfield, a Designated Airport, has just put out a circular,
stating that Immigration (tel and fax 01959 572225) must be notified
of any flights *to* the UK from the EU. This is new, and for years
people have been going to/from e.g. France without doing anything.

Pilot magazine - learn to fly supplement mystery03 Mar 2004 10:09 GMT18
I bought Pilot off the stand yesterday.
The front cover billed "Everything you need to know about to become a pilot
in our free 52 page supplement."
What a disappointment that there was not a word about microlighting.
Wanted: Avgas refueller/bowser03 Mar 2004 05:00 GMT1
We need another avgas bowser at Tilstock. If anyone knows where I can
lay my hands on one, please email me. The vehicle condition is
unimportant as long as the tank is sound.

Heathrow 27L problem on Friday?01 Mar 2004 15:11 GMT2
Just wondered if anyone knew what happened to cause Heathrow to operate
single runway on Friday ~5:30pm?
Our driver came on the PA to apologise for the delay as we waited at the 27R
threshold, saying that there had been an incident on the other runway. Lots
