| Tobago crash at EGHH | 31 Aug 2004 12:18 GMT | 9 |
Heard about this on the BBC news. Does anyone know any more? Sounds like another tragic stalled attempt to turn around from the climb out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/3607814.stm

| Exams!! | 31 Aug 2004 10:18 GMT | 1 |
I've been learing to fly for just over two years (too little time and too much lousy weather to progess a quickly as I wanted to). But today I did the last written exam (Met - 90%). I thought all was hunky-dory but then realised that a) I'm time expired on the Air Law so have to ...

| WAS: Jet Engines | 30 Aug 2004 00:11 GMT | 1 |
was told by a BA pilot that rain passes through a jet engine. Why doesn't the rain put out the flames, especially in very heavy rain such as may be experienced in the tropics or a monsoon? John

| Eurocontrol charging, more info and links | 30 Aug 2004 00:11 GMT | 8 |
Unless we make comments by 17/Sep it is probable that ALL airspace users will have to pay charges from next year. Eurocontrol has been empowered by the European Commission to undertake a consultation on "Implementing Rules on a Common Charging Scheme for Air

| Flying in Scotland | 29 Aug 2004 23:10 GMT | 4 |
Good evening, in September I'll have the sheer pleasure to spend a week in Edimburgh, thus discovering Scotland. I'll pay a visit to the Scottish Museum of Aviation, of course, but I wonder

| Boeing 777 ground steering? | 29 Aug 2004 17:05 GMT | 5 |
I flew back to the UK from New York on a Boeing 777 recently - ground movement felt different to all the other aircraft I have travelled on (maybe it was just the size?). Going round sharpish corners on the taxi to the stand felt like the aircraft was pivoting around the nose wheel ...

| Planes dumping something | 27 Aug 2004 16:41 GMT | 30 |
I live under one of the holidng points for one of the UK's major airports and so we have a lot of planes overhead sometimes. Just occasionally a thin stream of something can be seen coming out of the back of one.

| Banner Towing | 26 Aug 2004 07:05 GMT | 2 |
Anybody see the plane towing a Persil banner over N. London on Sunday? I've seen these everywhere in the world, but never seen one here, and can't belive they let it tow a banner across the heavily used used helicopter route above my house, and just below the traffic heading into ...

| Class 1 Medical question | 26 Aug 2004 00:47 GMT | 9 |
Off to get my initial Class 1 on 13th September at the CAA in Gatwick - the paperwork says I shouldn't drive as they *might* use eye-drops as part of the eye test which cause blurred vision that lasts for up to 12 hours. They then go on to give you driving and parking directions, ...

| Eurocontrol charging for VFR as well as IFR, all weights | 23 Aug 2004 15:12 GMT | 26 |
Just read that they put out some proposals along these lines. Does anyone have any idea what the rates would be? I understand (not flying a plane over 2000kg) that the UK rate is set by the CAA and Eurocontrol collect it on the CAA's behalf.

| Freight | 23 Aug 2004 13:07 GMT | 21 |
A question has come up at work which I hope someone here can help me with. What type of aircraft would be needed to fly 1 ton of freight from Surrey to Cork and what licence would the pilot need? What would such an aircraft cost to buy used?
