Is there a.......29 Sep 2004 14:54 GMT1
........ dedicated UK paragliding group? Or at least one frequented by
paraglider pilots? None seem to fit the bill, perhaps my news server doesn't
carry the right ones...

I'm going to be putting a MVT-7100 on ebay for auction either later today
(scheduled to start at 19:30hrs).  It comes with the instruction manual,
telescopic aerial and 4 rechargable AA Ni-MH batteries (due to not having
the original power adapter it came with).  Also, it comes ...
Is DOF on a VFR flight plan non-ICAO?29 Sep 2004 10:46 GMT5
That's what someone just told me - it is therefore not supposed to be
used...
I have generally found that using DOF, with a date a few days ahead,
is a good way for a FP to *not* get filed.

Travel insurance for GA flying in Canada29 Sep 2004 00:04 GMT3
I was pretty sure that I had saved the relevant message from just a few
weeks back, but just can't find it in my saved messages news box and got
not very far, with Google. I'm looking for travel insurance (in
the UK) that would give me cover for plane hire and flying in Canada. Can

Sector MSAs are in feet but with no "ft".
Some spot elevations are in feet, with "ft".
Most spot elevations are in metres, with no "m".
Anyone been in the Concorde at Manchester?24 Sep 2004 10:07 GMT8
or any other open to the public I suppose? I went on the one in New York a
few weeks back and was very dissapointed. You go in about half way along,
move down the plane to the front and straight out by the cockpit entrance.
You are through it in about 30 seconds. There is loads of ...
Is this the place for Homebuilders?23 Sep 2004 17:14 GMT6
Are there many homebuilders on this newsgroup?
I'm looking into building a Rotorway Exec 162F helicopter. I have lots
of questions pertinent to the UK only (ie can you finance kits in the
uk).
Jet Engines23 Sep 2004 15:04 GMT49
I was told by a BA pilot that rain passes through a jet engine. Why
doesn't the rain put out the flames, especially in very heavy rain
such as may be experienced in the tropics or a monsoon?

Explosions in turkey22 Sep 2004 21:25 GMT5
Last night, about 0035z leaving Dlaman, just about abeam Izmir, I saw three
huge explosions on the ground.
Without going into huge detail, has anyone heard anything about these, or do
we have a Turk member here with access to local news I wonder?
Biggin Hill Airshow19 Sep 2004 23:50 GMT1
Spent an enjoyable day at Biggin Hill on Sat, although the weather
seemed determined to spoil everyone's fun.  Most of the programme had
displayed when we finally threw in the towel at 15:40ish after the rain
seemed to be set in.
flight services with AFIS & A/G ?18 Sep 2004 16:02 GMT8
quick newbie question. What flight servies is a VFR PPL entitled to ask for
when passing AFIS and A/G aerodromes? (i.e. when you route passes close by
to such aerodromes). Clearly asking for a RIA/RAS is out of the question...
but can u ask for a Flight Info Service? What standard ...
9/11 - no lessons learnt apparently17 Sep 2004 19:38 GMT14
The BBC sent in a reporter at Mancheser Airport, masquerading as a security
officer. Amongst other things, she managed to board a BMI plane in the
middle of the night - complete with camera crew. So much for security then!
