I hope you don't mind me posting here but I thought I would take this
opportunity to tell you about a new flying website aimed at both
student and qualified PPL's. I am the person who runs the website. I
originally started it to keep my motivation in flying while I was a

Interesting Programme18 Sep 2005 19:16 GMT1
There's a new series on the Discovery Wings Satellite channel called
"Flying Heavy Metal".
It is looking at the history of passenger jet aircraft. The first
episode looks at the history of the Boeing 707.
Cockpit noise ?18 Sep 2005 18:35 GMT24
Might sound a bit daft but sometimes when listening to aircraft on the
radio, there seems to be a lot of background noise over the pilots talking.
Examples (off the top of my head) are KLM's Fokker 100's (Fokker 70's also)
and Boeing 737-200's (Ryanair's). The 737's sound like a ...
Red Arrows ATC restrictions at Biggin Hill Airfair16 Sep 2005 17:48 GMT6
First as an aside, there was the question of getting onto the airfield.
There were four of us in the car, 3 adults, 1 child. The ticket seller
insisted that this did not qualify for the "car up to 5 people" tariff
as there were only 4 people, not 5, and we would have to pay at
Minimum legal height over the sea?15 Sep 2005 17:33 GMT12
A Piper Tomahawk flew down Littlehampton beach this afternoon, almost
(but not quite with my eyes) low enough to read its registration. I took
a photo, and based on the length being 22 feet, it must have been about
300 feet above the sand. Is there a minimum legal height over the ...
Weather at Birmingham Airport EGBB today at 9am14 Sep 2005 09:10 GMT10
The sky was overcast and low. But how low ?
The planes taking off vanished in the sky after 6-8 seconds.
Anyone.

Biggin Hill: B-17 and Chinook display saturday.14 Sep 2005 00:19 GMT10
Anyone else find it a very cautious display ?  Relatively high and from
where I was standing, quite some distance from the seating arena.
At the opposite end of caution I will never look at a helicopter again
with the same disdain after the Chinook was thrown around like nothing
