Twin GA aircraft at Glasgow (EGPF)26 Oct 2005 12:01 GMT1
I often see a twin engined a/c going in/out of Glasgow. I've never got a
good look at it, but it fly's fairly regular.
Anyone know what it is and if it's private or commercial. It's low wing, low
elevator and about the size of a Baron.
Open rooftop at Newcastle Airport ????26 Oct 2005 09:22 GMT4
Is there still an open air roof top at Newcastle Airport ?. I know there
used to be one, but then the Airport went through some pretty extensive
alterations, so i just wondered if it was still there.I have just got myself
a decent Digital Camera and would like to get some shots (not ...
Can CAS busts be eliminated?25 Oct 2005 20:19 GMT4
I see interminable debates on this subject on the www-based online
forums.... as usual the debate drags out a majority which complains
about lack of traditional skills...
Has anyone broken down the bust data into causal factors? For example
QNE/QNH25 Oct 2005 09:33 GMT13
Just had a great time on holiday in Nepal, but have a query about QNH & QFE
for landing. We had an internal flight in a Twin Otter and I sat just back
from cockpit and noticed that the crew flew and landed on QNH (altimeter
read 4,500' on landing). Is this common on such flights, ...
Roger Freeman23 Oct 2005 19:40 GMT1
I notice from the Daily Telegraph that Roger Freeman, historian par
excellence, has died.  Roger was a lovely man, very helpful to other
writers, and a very thorough researcher.  A great loss.

Can the Q400 really do 480mph ???22 Oct 2005 20:52 GMT11
Flew in one of FlyBe's Dash 8 Q400's today and took a Garmin foretrex GPS
with me. I switched it on and was surprised to see 480mph !!!! - altitude
and distances were perfectly OK, never ever had any problems with speed
before, in car, or on other aircraft. I was a bit surprised to ...
SBS-1 Virtual Radar20 Oct 2005 11:04 GMT7
Has anyone used the above item yet?
My Dads thinking of getting one. He's really into aviation and knows nothing
about computers whereas I'm really into computers and know nothing about
aviation.
aviation prints19 Oct 2005 22:48 GMT1
For those of you who visit airshows & perhaps Duxford there are often
some wonderful prints for sale at various stands.
Some are £30 including frames, are they imported from China..
Others, the ones I really like are £600 limited edition 200/1000.

Anyone else finding it impossible to access the PPrune web site?  Seems to
have been 'down' since Friday night :(
What are these structures under jetliner's wings?15 Oct 2005 23:52 GMT5
I was always wondering what the 3-4 raft-shaped "unbent bananas" under
the wings of commercial jetliners are for?
Is it extra volume for kerosene?  Why are they smaller or larger on
different types of jet airplanes?
aircraft wreckage in Nicosia13 Oct 2005 08:57 GMT4

Red Bull Air Racing12 Oct 2005 14:25 GMT1
Probably old hat but I've just seen a video of a timed air race at
Longleat which took place some time in August this year. Quite watchable
as it happens, but it all seems terribly dangerous.
I'm seeing the CAA/JAA display department in a new light.
Show-off pilot kills mother and baby11 Oct 2005 20:20 GMT1
The town of Baeza in Andalucia, Spain was in mourning for a mother and her
baby who were killed when a fighter plane from San Javier air base slammed
into the roof of their house. The pilot also died in the incident.
The neighbours told of how the pilot regularly flew dangerously ...
1090MHz radar tone ?10 Oct 2005 20:59 GMT6
Does anyone know if there is any software to decode the pulse tone sent out
on 1090MHz by most aircraft. I know there is a company who sell a unit for
£500, which decodes onto a radar screen, this is what made me think that
there might be a bit more involved than just getting a hold ...
