| Twin GA aircraft at Glasgow (EGPF) | 26 Oct 2005 12:01 GMT | 1 |
I often see a twin engined a/c going in/out of Glasgow. I've never got a good look at it, but it fly's fairly regular. Anyone know what it is and if it's private or commercial. It's low wing, low elevator and about the size of a Baron.

| Can CAS busts be eliminated? | 25 Oct 2005 20:19 GMT | 4 |
I see interminable debates on this subject on the www-based online forums.... as usual the debate drags out a majority which complains about lack of traditional skills... Has anyone broken down the bust data into causal factors? For example

| QNE/QNH | 25 Oct 2005 09:33 GMT | 13 |
Just had a great time on holiday in Nepal, but have a query about QNH & QFE for landing. We had an internal flight in a Twin Otter and I sat just back from cockpit and noticed that the crew flew and landed on QNH (altimeter read 4,500' on landing). Is this common on such flights, ...

I notice from the Daily Telegraph that Roger Freeman, historian par excellence, has died. Roger was a lovely man, very helpful to other writers, and a very thorough researcher. A great loss. Vic Flintham

| What are these structures under jetliner's wings? | 15 Oct 2005 23:52 GMT | 5 |
I was always wondering what the 3-4 raft-shaped "unbent bananas" under the wings of commercial jetliners are for? Is it extra volume for kerosene? Why are they smaller or larger on different types of jet airplanes?

| Red Bull Air Racing | 12 Oct 2005 14:25 GMT | 1 |
Probably old hat but I've just seen a video of a timed air race at Longleat which took place some time in August this year. Quite watchable as it happens, but it all seems terribly dangerous. I'm seeing the CAA/JAA display department in a new light.

| 1090MHz radar tone ? | 10 Oct 2005 20:59 GMT | 6 |
Does anyone know if there is any software to decode the pulse tone sent out on 1090MHz by most aircraft. I know there is a company who sell a unit for £500, which decodes onto a radar screen, this is what made me think that there might be a bit more involved than just getting a hold ...
